The Compleat Squash

 

This is one of my very favorite pumpkin books. The author has captured the magic of pumpkins through her beautiful photography and thoughtful text. It is a wonderful coffee table book, and would make an exceedingly nice gift for the pumpkin lover on your list. The detail in this book is amazing. I'm going to include a few photo snapshots so you can see how lovely the photography is.

 

 

 

The Pumpkin Patch Parable

This is is my favorite fall children's book. It tells the story of the pumpkin parable. The author takes children on a journey with a farmer who plants pumpkins from seed to the harvest. Each page has a corresponding scripture verse at the bottom. In the end the author shows how the pumpkin was transformed into a glorious site, and how we too can be full of light, shining like stars in a dark world.

Sadly this wonderful book is no longer in print. Fortunately I have a few copies on hand. Reader's Digest can be depended upon for a quality product, and author Caroline Boisset does a fabulous job sharing her insights on pumpkin gardening, crafts and recipes. The photos are stunning. I've included a few snapshots for you to see. Caroline discusses growing pumpkins, as wells as decorating and cooking with them. This book is hardback with a dust jacket. It is fairly large and is 120 pages long counting the index. $19.95
